    Hi Mo!

Where in the world (which geographic location/region/country) are you most active, in terms of work and involvement in the research process? Other work assignments will prompt you to do additional analysis of context, barriers, etc in a particular setting —and you will reflect on how these relate to stakeholder engagement in that setting.

Does that help, in terms of framing your thoughts?

    Hi Clever,

Will you let me know what is happening when you click on the module link? Are you using Chrome or Firefox? Those browsers are more optimal than Explorer.

It might be an internet bandwidth issue. I would suggest downloading the offline content for the desktop/laptop on the lesson page. You do need internet access for the download, which takes a few minutes– but it converts to a zip file and then you can view the module while you are offline.

Let me know how it goes! We can also Skype tomorrow if you continue to have challenges.

    Hi all:

This is a super interesting topic (one of my favorites), and we look forward to talking much more about this issue in the upcoming lessons.

BUT, before we jump tooooo far ahead, be sure to also respond to Lesson 1’s Discussion Question thread!

    Thanks!!

I do think the field has come a long way — in the past, many of us probably equated engagement purely with recruitment outcomes….

But, even though there is an increasing tendency to understand and improve our stakeholder engagement, I wonder if all researchers consider it a part of their day-today work or a part of the ‘core business’ at a trial site? What about when resources are tight?

Do we always approach engagement with a focused strategy and process? Do we see engagement as a ‘one off’ consultation with a partner or do we see value in keeping up the conversation and their involvement between trials?

I think our understanding is still evolving … and I hope this course illustrates that stakeholder engagement is actually much, much bigger than how we thought of it before…

And thanks everyone for your feedback on Module 0. On our end, it is accessible and working fine.

    A few points to remember:

    — the most optimal browser to use is Chrome! Internet Explorer is the least optimal

    — module download can be affected by bandwidth, so do consider the offline options (there are hyperlinks for offline desktop and iPad viewing on the lesson page)– you still need Internet bandwidth for the initial download process, so if you can, hook yourself up to a cable for better connection (versus just wireless connectivity). This sometimes helps my module viewing in SA!

    — lastly, you must let all of the audio play AND click on all of the interactive elements on a screen before pressing the Next button

In the interest of time, please continue with the baseline assessment and then Module 1– Module 0 is simply an overview of the online modules’ navigation features. It does not contain GPP content. But we are actively following up on your feedback, and I may reach out to some of you for more detail!

Good luck and reach out anytime! We are here to help!!

    Hi Wadi,

Actually, the assignments are exactly the same for Tracks A and B for Week 1 — so your preference is for Track A, correct?

    I hope you enjoy it!

    Hi Pearson,

Thanks so much for reporting this  critical issue. I also do not see the upload field, but we will get the issue sorted immediately.

Please email the assignment to the gpponlinecourse@gmail.com if you would like to submit the work in the interim.

    Hi everyone!

Please don’t worry about the ‘completion of steps’ in your profile. I am monitoring completion on the back end and will update gradebook at certain time points in the course. If you have missed any of the requirements, I will be sure to notify you (more than once)! Great to feel this passion and motivation!!

Neetha: you are absolutely correct regarding your approach to the baseline assessment. The assessment is meant to be an initial gauge of your baseline knowledge. You will take a final assessment and evaluation after course completion! And we will be happy to discuss the responses and also get your feedback about the questions themselves!

Hi there Wadi–  if you have selected your course track, you should see a GPP Course (with track A or B) button on your My Learning page. Click on that and it will take to a page with a button that says ‘Orientation Materials’.

The assignments for Module 0 are (1) completing your profile (which I see you did– LOVE the pic), (2) reviewing the online module by clicking on the module link, and (3) completing the baseline assessment, which will be posted today. There is no other written assignment– the crunch begins next week!!

C’mon everyone –let’s get warmed up and start to post! Say hi and introduce yourself or share any thoughts you might have!

I will also be stretching my boundaries with the forum and attempting a video intro of myself this weekend.  I reside on a farm outside of Cape Town, so it could be an interesting background or just plain noisy with all of the furry stakeholders in my midst. Fingers crossed!!

Also, please note that you can click on a box in left hand corner of your screen to automatically receive email notifications of forum posts (or leave it unclicked to not receive notification and just check the forum regularly).
And if you experience any technical challenges with posting, I can help you on the back end. Just send me a message through the LMS.

    Have a great day!
