
Social media is a beneficial way of communicating information with stakeholders given that correct information is released through this channel. The use of social media can be challenging in terms of controlling the information that is being released to the public. Messages can be easily misinterpreted or communicated wrongly through the use of social media. Wrong information could result to wrongly based opinions which will not be beneficial to the study and its stakeholders. Messages should be communicated in a clear, concise and understandable language. Messages should also be correct before posting to avoid incorrect understanding of information. Social media can be an easy and new way to communicate information but it needs careful planning before use as stakeholder/community engagement tool.
