‘Other Priorities’ in the setting of Nigeria as it concerns HIV has to do with stigma, belief( prefer herbal treatment) , and ignorance.
To improve referral among them using GPP, I suggest participants Education, counseling, building trust and transparency as vital.

I’ve got a lot of surprises through this GPP Course. I now understand that ‘ research’ is a team work involving different stakeholders whose inputs must be considered.
Also the success of any trial depends on how each stage of the trial is handled, right from formative research to trial Closure. All the stages are very important and should be done properly having GPP Principles in Mind.

Communication, training along with free tests, inviting them on World health days, and arranging social gatherings works well while having GPP principles at the back of your mind.

    Hello Isaac,
Visitation works very well if u show transparency because it builds trust and you get to know the opinions of others concerning the trial.

Facebook and Whatsapp also produce good results if you are working with the Youths. You safe time , money, and energy. You can also reach out to a wide range of stakeholders ,but it has to be properly managed and screened.
    Cheers

In addition to that, we also use social media and visitation. It works well for us here.
    Cheers.

By sponsoring some local festivals which the communities value so much( like initiation to Adulthood) and taking part in the counseling session.

In addition we attain some of their ceremonies ( like Coronation).

We also hold meetings, visit, make phone calls, send mails to other stakeholders including CAB.

They all appreciate and always assured us of their support whenever we need one.

Prior to commencement of trial, a good formative research to address complexities and concerns bordering the trial site, meetings with key stakeholders ( including CAB) and Community Based Organization( CBO) would have been appropriate.
With the situation at hand, the safety of the participants is paramount. My team would have suspended the trial for a while. Hold meetings with all the stakeholders involved( CBO, MSM representatives, club owner etc) to educate on the relevance and benefits of the trial, discuss and negotiate on the issues to cover the life cycle of the trial, access their opinions and come to a consensus. Also ensure understanding and acceptability of the trial as well as having regular meetings with them to give updates and get feedback on the trial to avoid future attack.

There are doubts and misperceptions surrounding the result. Hence, it would be taken to be inaccurate, unreliable and unacceptable.

The concerns raised by stakeholders would eventually be revealed as it shows inability to manage unexpected challenges.

The trial is likely to loose opportunities for future partnership and loose strong relationship with key stakeholders.

Researchers can engage stakeholders to better negotiate by applying GCP and GPP guidelines. Taking into consideration areas of

Guiding principles, Trial planning and conduct, as well as Communications and issues management plans.

Although we’ve not had a protocol sent to our trial site in final form yet; I agree with Anthonia to go through it to really understand the contents. Then involve all the stakeholders to solicit for their contributions in other to make it relevance and suitable for the trial population.

In my area social media and online communication is beneficial because it’s faster and cheaper.

We can also engage a range of stakeholders especially the Youths to discuss and seek their opinion on the trial.

Although it’s tasking trying to sieve those that have knowledge or even interested in the trial from the numerous

    irrelevant write- ups displayed

I agree with the fact that GPP should be an ongoing process, from the beginning to the end of a trial.

Updates on the trial is necessary to make use of what is actually relevant at each phase.

We determine the importance of involving one stakeholder versus another based on information from survey and their expected contributions/roles to achieve our goal.
Other attributes are their knowledge, influence, and regard in the Community. Their willingness to be involved is important but if otherwise we just have to get them involved. The methods we usually apply include having in depth interviews with them to access their opinions. Also with the help of CAB, organize meetings, giving them updates on the trial and Educating them generally on the trial including the benefits of the trial.

We do what we call ‘ Advocacy ‘ . We have appointment with the Baale ( Chief) of the Land and his council members. During this meeting, the research process is explained in details to them to speak to the community members on our behalf before we commence. most times the Chief and his council members are included in the research if they are eligible to rule out fear on the part of community members.

without taking into consideration the suggestion of some stakeholders not to embark on a trial during festive periods as those periods are not favorable, the key stakeholders did. There were some festivals where women and children were forbidden to be seen outside for some days,There was no meaningful involvement of stakeholders during that period. This resulted in reduce number of participants, inadequate feedback, not completing the research within the time frame and the outcome seriously affected.

In my group, we are very conversant with GCP than GPP. Although the understanding varies among members. We are involved in organizing meetings, identifying potential risks, and other logistics. But now i have a better understanding of GPP which will be beneficial to entire members.
