We are just starting to use social media in our site, recently created face book page and we hoping this type of engagement will create debates. Would like to hear from other people what other types of social media platforms have helped in their strategies.

I guess what caught my attention from CROI is the realisation that there is quite a lot of advances on the way in prevention methods for HIV and AIDS, In addition to developing and manufacturing synthetic drugs to treat and prevent HIV, researchers are working on ways to use our own immune systems to fight and prevent HIV infection, through the use of broadly neutralising antibodies which are produced by the immune system of some people living with HIV, Prof Richard from NIAID provided an overview of the recent advances in the field and what antibodies could mean for future vaccine and HIV treatment options.

Retention will be achieved when stakeholders are involved from the initial stages of trial, constant communication and transparency are key, I have also found out that getting stakeholders input in planning my community engagement activities improves retention.

I believe in consistent engagement between team leaders and the community members, There should be on-going mutual respect, transparency, and accountability. Our site P.I visits our CAB four times in a year just to touch base, give study updates, and get feedback from the community, Most of these meetings are educational and both the community and research teams alternate in providing presentations, Research teams are from the scientific back ground and welcome this opportunity to learn about the respective communities where their research takes place.
