In  response to Anne’s question, about how can better commit the necessary time and resources to ensure active participation during stakeholder engagement planning. In the past, we never have stakeholder engagement plan. We have only communication community plan, recruitment plan and community plan. I just heard about stakeholder engagement planning in last year. I think that if we have stakeholder engagement planning that clearly and set goal, schedule time, activities clearly and evaluate each step that we do, it perfect. For my site, it is so hard to do, we need to have more  staff for responsible this work and need to train more about writing plan, understanding about stakeholder engagement plan.

I hope to get experience more after finished this course.

thank you you all for enrich comments that usefule for me to conduct in the future. I would like to share about formative reserch that I had done in the past. Formative reserch can conduct after start study if we need to investigate about study procedure. We can use for consent process or follow up process. My site has been done formative research to investigate about counseling process in PrEP trial.  It useful for develope or revise some process, tool, and method which will help study success.

    1. For stakeholder mapping, I ‘m not sure that the method that we use is mapping or not? We will use several methods to mapping stakeholder such as writting community work plan, checklist who are stakeholder and mapping.Basic method that we use is staff meeting (recruiter, clinic staff, community educator, PI, physician, etc.) and list stakeholder that may be effected conducting study. Another method is list from  CAB meeting. The stakeholder that we have listed should be compose of multiples group. Sometime, after community activities, reflection from community may tend to new idea about stakeholder list. So stakeholder mapping can come from several methods. During study conduct, new  stakeholder can occur. We should concern about stakeholder mapping thoughtout study conduct; before, mid and end of study.

    2. For actively build and sustain longer-term relationships with stakeholder, we need to have plan, schedule meeting and evaluate activities that have been done. We need to meeting for revise stakeholder list troughout the trial. We should be updated the progression of study with stakeholder.

    1) Discuss the link between formative research and community engagement for a trial. How are they alike? What are some differences between the two?
They are difference because formative research use for survey/research fundamental information, concern, comment and opinion from community. While community engagement is accessing to community which is action or activities to community. Link between them is formative research should be done prior community engagement. I think that formative research useful for conduct information and guide for community engagement. It would be helpful for engagement if we known opinion, viewing or concern from formative research.

    2) Has your site conducted formative research activities? How have you involved community stakeholders in formative research activities at your trial site? If not, how could you potentially involve them?
Yes, I have. I think that it was Formative research informally. Before trial start, we have meeting with staff and CAB for identify stakeholders. After that we have meeting with each stakeholder, GOs, NGOs and representative of student in university for introduce study and interview them about how do they feel for this study? What are concern from them if start trial?. We receive many important things and useful for revise strategy of staff including recruitment, clinic procedure, safety concern.

Distinguished between GPP goals, objectives and activities is

Goal is draw big picture which same as main/final purpose of the study. It show that what is the final point of this implement. Same as what is the most important thing that we expect to occur after we done/implementation.

Objective is sub purpose of goal. It should able to measure, clearly, have time.

Activity is how to achieve the objective. It should clearly explanation step by step and measurement. It would be good if state who, how, when and where. Each objective may has many activities.

Benefit that should has stakeholder engagement are help community to understand trial and solve any issues prior to violence and effect study.

I think that the first thing we have to understand that who are  target population /participant of project including understand study’s objective, criteria. We should assessment who are key person or population that may be effected study or affected by the study. We should be focused with study team, CAB and representative of target population. We should have meeting with them and do consultation meeting. Finally, we will have list of key person and stakeholder list from these activities. Another thing that we will receive are comments, concern and suggestions from them.

    1) Stakeholder is anybody who can affect or is affected by project. They are important and effect to success or unsuccessful in project. Stakeholder have power in community and someone is representative of that area. If we can identify who are stakeholder, we can access in area and known about community thinking. We can develop communication plan for community and we can develop management plan for study. Collaboration with stakeholder can analyze problem and resolve problem.

    2) To understanding of the value of stakeholder engagement is important and we need to survey that who are stakeholder for this study. First thing, staff team need to brainstorm or have meeting for scope and clarify who are stakeholder. After that staff should have community engagement plan and have schedule meeting with stakeholder. Some media should be created for clearly understanding about study. If found rumors or wrong information about study, study team need to evaluate and urgent to resolve.
