Hello Learners/Anne, Sorry to appear late, i got an agent leave to attend to some personal challenges.

Coming to our discussion: My experience has been very good with stakeholder engagement although not the standard i have lean or i am learning with GPP. I as Zambart we have always involved with stakeholders in every study but the only difference at times we never involved all stakeholders but a few and we did not have a proper program or budget for stakeholders.

    We still had serious challenges for that and that is;
    – Information was not spread timely.
    – Some times you go in the community, people do not know about the study because there is no one in the community who told them about the study and it means means you study from zero to introduce the study and the challenge is when it comes from unknown person, information is received with mixt feeling better when the community had got the information from their fellow community group or individual.
    – Meeting targets becomes difficult when you do not involved all stakeholders.
    – You ca hardly be trusted when you do not involve stakeholders

    Thank you

    Hi ,

I think we must make this topic a DEBATE, i personally feel the CAB cannot be used to go in the community to bring study participants, NO. They are a board, advisory board.

So their role should be advisory

    Hi Nokulunga,

That is true and could be a good idea but i do not know how your CAB is managed financially, my CAB is a voluntary group and that might be more specific and extra work.
I feel we still have more to explore and share more on the CAB.

    Hi Jessica,

    Looking good on that Cale.

Your point is very valid because we could vary on the CAB formation, composition and the role of the CAB depending on sites.

However, to stay on topic here on our forum, I suggest we should have three titles e.g; CAB FORMATION, CAB COMPOSITION and ROLE OF THE CAB then deal with each topic at a time.

Do you think it is time for a thread? What about the suggested topics?

    Hi Gonzalo,

That is a good point, I agree with you.

Co-enrollment should be common in most communities. However, A workable system differs depending on the your site i guess. I personally feel the finger one could be more helpful for most sites although questionnaires can do too.

Sad i have missed alot, had challenges with my internet.

Through my observation i would not say that my entire research team have an understanding of the value of GPP.

personally, the first time i came across the GPP guideliness was when i participated in Engagement Forum 2015 facilitated by Jessica, Stacy and their friends in South Africa.
The first time i got that small powerful book/bible, i understood why sometimes we have challenges in getting the intended results, surport, colaborations or involvent in our trials.

GPP guideliness are a poweful tool or a road map that would help to make any trials even in a difficult enviroment to yield the needed result. GPP guidelines are like a balanced diet, it covers the requirements/needs for all stakeholders.

Personally am so excited to have this opportunity to learn these powerful principles in the GPP guidelines.

I feel my research site team has some knowledge on on the stakeholder engagement but not the full knowledge on GPP. On the other hand i feel somehow we partily practice GPP guideline without knowing.

I feel the GPP team still has a long way to take these GPP guidelines around the world for the good all.

I also feel the GPP team shoul consider introducing a degree on this GPP online course

    Thank you

    Hello fellow Learners,

My contribution on participart retention is that the key factor is at the recruitment stage.
    There are a number of items that should be taken very serious at recruitment stage;
    1. Study information-make sure your participant understand what they are getting into and have volunterily accepted to take part in the study.
    2. Let your participant understand what will be required of them and how long will they be required.
    3. Get enought and verified locatotor information. e.g, if you get unverified phone number or address, you will only discover that the phone number or address are wrong or not valid at the point when you need this participant and you might not have any other way to locate your particular participant.
    4. Always update your locater information
    5. Involve people who are familiar with the area of your study,

These and other related strategies like marking the location of your participant with a GPS.

Bamidele, hope these would add up to what you have.

    Thank you

Thank you Jesica, i just wanted to be sure of the abbreviation.

Thank you guys for all your detailed explanations, this is the best team for me. Am so much encouraged.

In addition i know there are a number of groups that can be designed to represent a research community however, i feel in most settings if well organized, a CAD is one of the powerful groups you can use.

    Thank you
