I really learnt a lot from this course. GPP is new to me but now, I know what it entails.
I learnt the success of any trial depends on how each stage of the trial is handled, from the start research until trial Closure and is very important to stakeholders participation in the all process.
CynthiaMemberMaintaining contact with stakeholders is relevant for the proper development of future studies with communities. Some strategies which should practice are:
-Present to stakeholders the results of investigations they are involved, in this way, they will know about their important role will realize the role they have in their community”
– Maintain contact via phone or other types of communication to participate in the design of future research.
– Perform training and/or updates on topics of research for stakeholders, this would help to keep contact with them and also to strengthen their knowledge.- This reply was modified 8 years, 5 months ago by Cynthia.
CynthiaMemberThe lack of knowledge from the community about the clinical trial which is developed has caused the violence against to whom are under this trial, for this reason it will call to the owner and people who are working in this club and representatives of MSM population as a quickly strategy for the proper manage of the indicated problem. In this way they could know about the research that is developing and after they will share this information to others who go to this club.
This meeting must happen before the start of the project with community representatives , MSM population representatives and others stakeholders and shoud take the proper strategies to avoid this kind of attacks to people who are under this trial, also look for other strategies in case other problems could happens, so will meet with maintain the confidentiality and well-being of participants.CynthiaMemberDespite of showingthat results of trial were beneficial to the population , these may not apply to the reality of the comunity where had been developed, also the feeling of discomfort of stakeholders and others representatives of the community can affect on the decision to obtaining the offered product later.
Of what I learned about GPP, can be defined that the involvement of stakeholders is very important since the begining of research, in this way since the point of view of community, will be designed a research based on their needs and not just on what we want to investigate.

CynthiaMemberBefore sharing the protocol with stakeholders of the community, be must ensure they have the enough knowledge and necessary training on research process and also on the topic of the protocol which will be asked for their reviewing. In this way it will enrich the contributions they will give us about the protocol.
After ensure such skills, it will call a meeting with stakeholders to present the protocol to review and through a moderator receive the contributions and suggestions of stakeholders about the presentation, it should be noted these contributions should be accompanied by an argument or fundament that highlight the importance of the changes to be carried out.
Unfortunatly, that I exposed before is something I have not been able to experience directly because as I said before in my office we do not have at this moment a CAB which complies with all the requirements for a the reviewing of protocols.- This reply was modified 8 years, 6 months ago by Cynthia.
CynthiaMemberThe good relationship we maintain with stakeholders( health care workers and community agents) is beneficial to appropriate conduct of the studies on the community because stakeholders help us to know more about the community situation and patients recruitment according to the need of the studies. For example, in a community where we had not have the support of stakeholders (health care workers) as a consequence had a negative impact for the recruitment/follow-up of patients. The source of the lack of this support was stakeholders did not have the enough information about the study and after that, we share the information with them the problems were been improved.
The social media has a dual role during the development of the investigations as they may promote or being in detrimental of them so is necessary the study team and participants must have clear information about the research and thus will not result in distrust and fear in the participants.

CynthiaMemberIn my experience and because at the moment we don´t have of trained stakeholders whom have to complete their role in research they are involved, it should be necessary go with the first step which is identify and training them, in this way it should ensure a well-trained and conscientious stakeholders of their work in their communities and during the conduction of research.
I would identify key people in their communities, which participate in local events or meetings, at the same time I would consider ex-participants from clinical trials as potential stakeholders because they have their own experiences since they know in firsthand the importance of developing research to improve the knowledge and the fight against different diseases.

CynthiaMemberAs community actors we have implemented the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) but their participation is not dynamic in the formative research in the community. We submitted the studies for their review but they can not make any changes in the protocol.
To improve this context we proposed to increase skills and knowledge of CAC members thus they will be part of the investigations and representatives of the community. Also is necessary that institutions involved in research must learn about the importance of GPP as part of the investigations.
CynthiaMemberThe research conducted in my institution after being evaluated by the different regulatory bodies (ethics approvals) are presented to the Community Stakeholders (local health service providers) so that through them we can recruit participants in the various Researchs that we implement, so they become aware of the investigation but without making changes to the implementation. Sometimes happened that the health care providers do not attend research presentations and this hindered recruitment within their jurisdiction, in that case the project leaders visit care providers to share these information.

At work, my colleagues know about it but unfortunately, the group formed for this purpose still does not have sufficient capacity to ensure the application thereof as a whole is a weakness that we must improve and we are in the process of doing so.
