    Dear all,

Sorry for my lately posting of lesson 4. I worried that I might annoy my classmate. However I could not let it because I will not know something I wonder forever.

I would like to ask your idea about stakeholder engagement plan. Since I work in the area that they clarify NGOs who will take response for target population and other NGOs will not involve. For example, SWING takes response for MSM in Pattaya and other NGOs who work in national will not involve. So I wonder about community stakeholder and stakeholder. Should I make a plan to sustain relationship with nationnal NGO or work only for community stakeholder? I will keep touching with national NGOs but will focus more on community stakeholder. Right?

The other question is measurable in stakeholder analysis in blueprint. We will divide stakeholders to be 4 groups. Do we have to use any measure to set their groups?

Thank you very much for your explanation for advance and apologized for my late response.

    Regards,

    Pat

      Dear All,

Thank you very much for your replied. They are very useful for me.

In the past I have never added national stakeholders in my plan. I meant the plan in the area of our study,Pattaya.

I have never invited them to do activity in Pattaya just participated with them in Bangkok where headquarter is located only.

I think it is enough. However after I read your suggestions, I think I misunderstood a bit.

Fortunately, there will be a new trial at my site. I will add them in my plan  and invite them to participate with us to get

information from the new study or other activities in Pattaya.

      Thank you very much again.

      Pat

      Hi Pat,

I would also add that timing is important. Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across all levels is important to successful stakeholder engagement. However, not all stakeholders need the same level of engagement all of the time. For example, national level stakeholders may play a key role in post-trial access. They need to be engaged throughout the trial process however will play a bigger role in securing access to products and services when a trial is over.

Prioritizing stakeholders is a good way to see WHO you have to engage and WHEN is the best time to focus engagement efforts with them. A priority grid will change throughout a trial so it is important to continue to evaluate stakeholder prioritization as well as the stakeholder advisory mechanisms being used.

Hi Pat, I agree with Anne,

In addition we should know that community stakeholders is just a sub set of the stakeholder group. Pat your plan should be developed in away that it includes your key stakeholders in reference to the research at play and they should be able to cover all the spheres of the stakeholders to include; participants, community, broader, national, and global stakeholders. You need partnerships at all those levels.

      Hi Pat,

You are right! It’s important to try and build partnerships with various stakeholder groups (community, regional, national, and even global)–you can begin reaching out very early on, inviting key stakeholders to attend workshops, ‘information meetings’, launch events, etc.

You will most likely need to provide different opportunities for participation and establish multiple informal and formal advisory mechanisms for different groups over the course of the trial.

Remember that national stakeholders are often just as important on the priority grid as community stakeholders, because gaining the support and ‘buy-in’ from government or key leaders can help your site establish credibility with other stakeholders.

You will also want to discuss roles and expectations of stakeholders with the individuals themselves, using educational events or meetings to build literacy and at the same time incorporate their feedback about the overall engagement plan.

      What do others think?
