– The trial should have consultation meeting with national level CABs to seek suggestions regarding stigmatisation and criminalisation of same sex relationship. The information and suggestions from the consultation can be used in planning for public relation about the trial to reach a wider audience.
– In addition, the research team should engage the community in preparation of the trial. This may be community forums to share ideas and to learn about the context of the target community. The information gained from the community forums can be used to prepare the community, in analyst of information for public relation, and for guiding the use of suitable language for target audience.
– On of the challenges in the trial is stigma and discrimination, therefore the trial should have an issue management plan in place to prevent and handle problems that may happen during the implementation.
– For trial participants who are experiencing negative consequences, the trial has to help trial participants according to research ethics. Furthermore, the trial should consult with community leaders for ways to mitigate the problem as well as to prevent the recurrence of the problem.
