Training Overview:
In this training, participants will learn MI techniques that include the spirit of motivational interviewing and micro skills, primarily reflective listening. This session will also focus on the use of ambivalence in the counseling process, strategies for increasing motivation, and self-efficacy and optimism.
At the conclusion of this training, participants should be able to:
- Discuss factors that influence one’s ability to change.
- Explain the Stages of Change.
- List at least two strategies a provider can try when incorporating Motivational Interviewing with a client.
- Describe one approach or response to avoid when applying Motivational Interviewing.
