Training Overview:
This workshop explores boundary setting and disclosure between people who use drugs and providers within a harm reduction framework. The workshop will provide guidance and ‘best practices’ for identifying boundary issues and boundary violations in their daily work with participants. In addition, the function of individual and group supervision will be discussed, in relation to improving engagement with participants by identifying and setting personal and professional boundaries; alongside examining potential transference issues.
At the conclusion of this training, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the role of boundaries and disclosure within a harm reduction framework.
- Identify boundary challenges versus boundary violations.
- Describe the role of staff supervision in relation to improving boundaries with clients, preventing burnout, and identifying transference/disclosure issues.
