The San Francisco Community Health Academy is a free training program offered in Spanish and English, designed for community health workers and promotes aimed to develop and sharpen transferable public health skills through a racial equity lens.

Course information and objectives: Gain in-depth insight on effective ways to engage African American communities on HIV treatment and prevention.

Acknowledging Gender and Sex

In this course, built by the UCSF Center of Excellence for Transgender Health, participants will learn strategies to improve the overall health and well-being of transgender people.

DoxyPEP STI Prevention

Prevent Syphilis, Gonorrhea, and Chlamydia with taking doxycycline with 72 hours after sexual encounter. 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the findings of the DoxyPEP study
  2. Be aware of key considerations for implementing DoxyPEP in clinical practice
  3. Describe at least one way the local health department can support integration of HIV and STI prevention

Embajadorxs de Vacunas

El programa de embajadorxs de vacunas se enfoca en educar e informar a lxs miembros de nuestra comunidad sobre lo más reciente en vacunas de COVID-19. 

Este entrenamiento también se enfoca en diferentes estrategias para lograr que nuestra comunidad que no se ha vacunado tome acción para vacunarse. 

Durante esta sesión, lxs participantes:

  • Obtenga información sobre COVID-19 y vacunas
  • Aprenda a tener conversaciones centradas en el individuo sobre las vacunas
  • Comprender mejor cómo usar el embajador de vacunas y los recursos del SFDPH

SOGI & Demographics

The purpose of the training is to have an understanding of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) and data and how it relates to the work that we do.

During this session, participants will:

  1. Understand how SOGI data can be most appropriately addressed in our program.
  2. Learn how to comply with local, state, and federal ordinances pertaining to collection of SOGI data.
  3. Begin to exchange information among members of the program/agency in a workshop setting to support one another.
  4. Engage in dialogue around the importance of SOGI and the impact it can have on your program/agency.
