Training Overview: The goal of this session is to provide general guidelines for preventing and managing conflict, as well as concrete and practical strategies to address conflict when it arises. We will discuss what conflict looks like, the role of stigma and trauma in conflict, and how to build personal skills in self-management and safety during conflict.
These are drop-in technical assistance hours where you’re welcome to stay as long or as little as your schedule allows. This is not a training, but an open space to bring questions, discuss case studies, and engage with other providers, with facilitator support available to answer questions and provide guidance.
Training Objectives:
- Discuss the role of boundaries and disclosure within a harm reduction framework.
- Identify boundary challenges versus boundary violations.
- Describe the role of staff supervision in relation to improving boundaries with clients, preventing burnout, and identifying transference/disclosure issues.
Facilitator: Tanagra Melgarejo, MSW (she/her), National Harm Reduction Coalition
