This training addresses the challenges frontline workers often experience when working with clients who return to drug use after an extended period of abstinence. Throughout the course of the training, participants will have the opportunity to review the research underscoring the chronic nature of problematic substance use and define transference and counter transference in the client/provider relationship. Through a series of interactive exercises and discussions, participants will examine their own responses and develop tools to support clients who have recently returned to substance use by helping them reflect on their circumstances, plan for safety, and consider their goals.
