SUMMARY:Saving Lives Through TB Screening of High Risk Communities (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Saving Lives Through TB Screening of High Risk Communities \nImplementing the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force’s Recommendations \nRegister Now! \nTuberculosis (TB) bacteria infects one out of every 4 people on the planet\, killing 1.5 million each year. Approximately 2 million Californians are infected with TB (LTBI)\, living with TB in their bodies\, and 2\,000 are diagnosed with TB disease each year\, when TB bacteria overtakes the immune system. More information about how this disease disproportionately affects specific communities and how we can prevent TB disease and TB deaths in California can be found here. \nThe U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recently released its updated recommendations on screening for LTBI in adults\, recommending screening communities at increased risk for TB. This includes people who were born in\, or former residents of\, countries with high TB prevalence and people who live in\, or have lived in\, high-risk congregate settings such as correctional facilities and homeless shelters. \nJoin us for a webinar to learn more about the importance of the USPSTF recommendations and a deep dive into which communities in California are at most risk. Engage in a discussion about how we can inform high risk communities and those who provide their health care about TB and these recommendations and why they are important. Help join the call for a health equity response to the TB epidemic in the state. \nWho should participate: \n\nOrganizations\, clinics\, and individual providers that provide TB services and/or other services to at risk communities.\nImmigrant and migrant health\, legal\, and justice organizations and coalition.\nTB advocates and advocates for at risk communities.\nHealth justice advocates.\nState and local public health officials.\nTB survivors and others with lived experience\n\nRegister Now! \nQuestions? Contact Ryan Clary\, ryantbfree@gmail.com.
